Ever since Colorado has opened its doors to the first legal marijuana dispensary back in January, 2014 the state has seen a rapid incline in revenue, generating a record breaking million dollars in a single day.
Other surrounding states have felt the presence of colorado’s marijuana take over as they have stated to have seen an increase in marijuana traffic moving in out of the surrounding states such as Nebraska and Oklahoma which abiding by their own laws conflicts with colorado’s state laws along with federal law, which under federal law, marijuana is still very much illegal on all counts.
This past Friday Colorado’s Attorney General suggested to the U.S. Supreme Court to throw out a filed lawsuit in regard to colorado’s recreational marijuana market place.
Oklahoma and Nebraska set the lawsuit in motion about a year ago and looks to eliminate Colorado’s marijuana regulatory system however they’re not looking to nullify legalization colorado has fought to achieve.
Both states have presented their case to the U.S. Supreme Court,as the overflow of pot increases within Nebraska and Oklahoma and the concern of and state and federal law come in to play
which what lead to the law suit in the first place.
With better laws and regulations currently trying to be implemented on the remaining states, their is no reason why that in the near future we shouldn’t be able to avoid situations like this creating a safer system for utilizing marijuana as a medicine and culture more efficiently.
