marijuana stocks to buy

The stereotypes attached to marijuana have slowly started to fade with several countries decriminalizing the use of marijuana and permitting citizens from a certain age to smoke weed for medical or recreation purposes. Legalizing weed is sort of a ‘legitimate justification’ for using cannabis that you can give to people. People no longer are in constant fear of being put behind bars for possession and use of the drug. You no longer need to buy marijuana from a sketchy man behind a dark alley.

When a legal backing is given to the use of weed for medical or recreational purposes, the drug becomes a little less intimidating to non-smokers. In a way, it actually makes them even inquisitive about it.

Canadian Government Supports the Marijuana Market

In June 2018, the Government of Canada made the bold decision of passing the Cannabis Act (C-45) which ratified the use of cannabis. It has been very interesting to see how legitimizing the use of CBD can lead to a drastic catapult in the sale of cannabis in the market. According to a survey conducted by Statistics Canada, only 330,000 people tried marijuana for the first time during the first three months of 2018, before cannabis was ratified in Canada. But after its legalization in October 2018, nearly 650,000 people decided to ‘go green’ for the first time. As of today, over 14% of Canada’s total population use cannabis from time to time.

However, its legalization couldn’t fully expunge the anathema that is sometimes attached to it. Around 60% of the cannabis users in Canada still continue to buy the drug from the black market despite its ratification. They do this because they fear their family and relatives won’t approve. Although, the largest demographic using cannabis in Canada ranges from 45-64, the most frequent users of weed lie between the ages of 18-24.

Baby Steps Towards Building A Pro-Cannabis Society

Despite the facts, smoking weed for medical or recreational purposes is frowned upon by many societies and cultures. The benefits of consuming cannabis have been legitimized by scientific research. People with Glaucoma, Alzheimer’s disease, Cancer, eating disorders, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, etc. are often prescribed medical marijuana as a treatment. Cannabis also has been highly recommended for mental health issues like PTSD, GAD, PD, MDD, etc. People have been using pot for medical and recreational reasons for centuries. Slowly but steadily, people, cultures, and countries across the globe have started to dissassociate the negative stereotypes attached to marijuana.
