Marijuana Stocks Money

Marijuana, weed, cannabis and all the other names for the substance bring about a familiar haze of munchies and laughter to those who choose to use the plant. With cannabis seeing so much popularity over the course of the past few years, many are turning to the sticky green as opposed to other more popular intoxicants such as alcohol among others. This 4/20, we saw the effect of mass legalization see cannabis truly hit the streets as acceptance for the plant is higher than ever (no pun intended).

A new study conducted in regard to wine and cannabis relations shows that there are certain compounds within the cannabis plant known as terpenes, that determine the flavor and aromatic profiles from each strain of cannabis. These terpenes can actually be used to consider what food or drink to pair a certain type of weed with, and has shown that cannabis may be just as complex as wine and other types of intoxicating agents.

One of those involved stated that “cannabis is just as complex as wine. There are a lot of similarities in the aromas and the flavors of cannabis and wine. Even the terroir of wine can be applied to cannabis.”

One of the main spots for the legalization of cannabis has remained California. With recreational weed being on the shelves for over a year at this point, it seems as though the wine capital of the nation, is also becoming famous for another substance. One individual stated that “California has such a deep culture of gourmet food that dining and pairing and cannabis events resonated with the people who live here. We want people to think of cannabis in the same way they think of wine, as a gourmet product.”

Of course cannabis can be considered to be high end, but there is definitely two ends of the spectrum when it comes to weed. Some companies have even begun to open up tastings that are aimed at canna-tourism which has taken off in the past few months. So far in the U.S., as many as ten states have chosen to legalize the substance including Washington D.C., all of which have done so for recreational purposes. Cannabis tastings have become extremely popular as well and in some cases have even been the preference over traditional wine tastings.

There is still a lot of room for growth in terms of the legislation that backs the substance, and the industry that has formed from the legalization of it. Maybe in the future, we’ll be able to see weed menus at our favorite restaurants and more of the like. Until then, however, it seems as though many are still trying to find out where cannabis lies amongst high-end intoxicants like a nice bottle of wine or a fine cigar. For now, we may have to settle for the most expensive preroll that our local dispensary has on the shelves.
