Butter is an ingredient that is used in so many different kinds of cooking. You can use it for frying, searing or poaching and it is almost always found in desserts, cakes, pastries and other sweet dishes. Would you like to give your butter based dishes an extra kick? Then how about using canna butter instead of regular butter? Canna butter is very easy to make and even easier to use in other recipes, just like regular butter! Follow the recipe given below to make your own homemade canna butter just using a crock pot.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds of unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces trimmed marijuana

Kitchen Tools Required:

  • Crockpot
  • Stirring spoon
  • Cheese cloth
  • A bowl or jar
  • Container for storing the prepared canna butter

Directions

Start heating the crock pot on medium heat on the stove. Next add the butter and let it slowly melt. Once the butter has melted completely, add the marijuana to it and mix it well with the spoon.

Leave the butter and marijuana mix to cook for 6 hours on the lowest heat setting. After 6 hours the canna butter will be ready as the cannabis would have infused into the butter.

Take the crock pot off the heat and strain the butter and marijuana through a cheese cloth into a bowl or jar. The marijuana infused butter will collect in the bowl or jar while the weed plant matter remains in the cheese cloth. Squeeze the cheese cloth well to drain out the last bits of the canna butter.

Pour the canna butter into a container or several different containers that can be refrigerated depending on how you wish to use the canna butter.

Your canna butter is now ready to be used and can be stored just like regular butter. One pound of canna butter can be used to make 4 dozen brownies or cookies. You can use it for many other delicious cannabis based recipes.

  1. I wanted to say that I love the article. Have you ever tried to infuse the oil in a couple of hours? I make a temperature controller for crock pots at http://www.crockcontroller.com. They are easy to use and affordable. And the process does not take 6 hours since you can control the temperature of the crock, rather than relying on a non-defined ‘low’ or ‘med’ typical crock settings.

  2. Well, it looks like I just found yet another use for my crock pot! Never thought to use it for making cannabis butter, so I’m definitely going to have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing!
