A Denver law firm that dedicates their efforts to marijuana law has endorsed a prestigious Colorado law school with a 3 year, $45,000 professorship for cannabis law and policy.
Sam Kamin who is a professor at The University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law will be the first Vicente Sederberg Professor of Marijuana Law and Policy located in the private college headquartered in south Denver. Marijuana law firm Vicente Sederberg LLC has committed $15,000 a year for 3 years to the professorship, which is identified as the first of its kind.
“It’s not an exaggeration to say that this field wouldn’t exist without the work Vicente Sederberg has done here and throughout the country,” Kamin said. “Brian (Vicente) was a student of mine 10 years ago, so the distance he’s come and the things he and his firm have done in a pretty short time is pretty amazing. So it’s an honor to be getting this.”
Kamin Stated he will use the funds to be a part of a policy discussion abroad and Colorado.“I’ve been wanting to go down to Uruguay and see what they’re doing with marijuana law reform,” Kamin stated. As well, Kamin is looking to employ student research assistants with the money.
“It feels both like an acknowledgement and an opportunity to do more of the work I’ve been doing,” Kamin stated.
For Kamin, the timing of the professorship new couldn’t have been more clutch. This past Monday he was collecting the final documents from the first students to partake in his Representing the Marijuana Client class at Denver University Law.
