Marijuana-Stocks-20s

Pot products were close to tax-free on Wednesday in Colorado – this is the first time that a tax break was awarded to them due to an issue in the state Constitution. This break took away the ten percent tax on marijuana products. This tax is enforced on top of already-existing sales tax as well as municipal taxes. Marijuana dispensaries in Colorado spent months deciding how they would distribute, advertise discounts, and talk about the break on taxes to get customers to begin preparing for this day.

Mandie Farrow, a dry cleaner employee who just left the Grass Station (which had a half off discount on top of the tax break) was “saying ‘Happy holidays’ to everybody [Wednesday],” She was ecstatic as her purchase of four grams of pot was put into a paper bag in front of her. Even behind her, eager customers were waiting, making a line that reached out the door. Grass Station needed to hire a security guard to handle the matter as if it were “a Black Friday-style event.”

“This holiday is off the charts,” said Kristian Adam, the security guard. “It’s right up there with 4/20 and the state’s visit from Phish.”
