New research released by Quinnipiac University showed presidential approval ratings in three swing states: Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Another source released data comparing presidential approval ratings and the approval ratings of marijuana. Surprisingly, swing states support legalizing marijuana more than they support any of the presidential candidates.

In Pennsylvania, legalization is supported by fifty-seven percent of voters while in Florida, legalization is supported by fifty-six percent of voters. In Ohio, legalization is supported by fifty-two percent of voters. As for presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton is supported by thirty-seven percent of voters in both Florida and Pennsylvania, and by thirty-four percent in Ohio. On the other hand, Trump has thirty-nine percent of support in Pennsylvania, thirty-seven percent in Florida, and thirty-six percent in Ohio.

As for medical marijuana, the results were even higher. Eighty percent of voters in Florida supported medical cannabis while ninety percent of voters in Ohio did. Voters in Pennsylvania were not asked. Of course, this support came primarily from Democrats and Independents. In Pennsylvania, sixty-seven percent of Democrats, sixty-one percent of Independents and forty-one percent of Republicans supported legalization.

The research indicates that marijuana reform bills were also more favored than officials that are currently serving terms. This includes all six of the United States senators from Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania. The only governor of the three states to gain more support than marijuana was John Kasich, although he was still lower than medical marijuana.

Legalization and medical marijuana are more favored by voters than Donald Trump’s infamous wall that would be built along the United States border with Mexico.
