The use of medical marijuana has been legalized in one more place: Croatia. Medical marijuana has been legalized there for medical purposes such as patients suffering from illnesses like cancer, multiple sclerosis, or even AIDS. The legalization was made official on Thursday, but the media in Croatia reported that there have been no medicines with THC (the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana) registered thus far in the country.
The health ministry has advised that medical marijuana is not allowed to be grown in one’s home and one can only obtain the marijuana by being prescribed it from doctors. This regulation shows that patients may receive up to 0.75 grams of THC monthly. The decision to legalize medical marijuana followed months of campaigns from supporters of the cause in the European Union’s most recent member nation. Many other European Union country also allowed marijuana use in some way as well.
