A County Tyrone man who has been diagnosed with brain cancer states he wants to be allowed to use marijuana oil that he believes will further extend his life span.
Kieran McCrory, 37, who is located in Omagh, has asked the health minister for help in his current position. Currently is it against the law to use marijuana oil in the UK as it is labeled a class B drug. However, a derivative from marijuana is utilized in a spray for MS patients.
This past year, Mr McCrory had just got married and was getting ready to begin his new life in Australia. Back in October, as he was given no warning, he suffered a good amount of seizures. Later down the road he finally diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Kieran has been told that he has a 3 to 5-year lifespan in his current condition. He has undergone brain surgery and radiation therapy, but he thinks the only remedy that would expand is life span would the use of cannabis oil.
“I’m not the same person. I can’t walk very far when I go outside I’m in a wheelchair. My house is like a medical centre now,” he stated.
“It’s so hard knowing that there is something out there that could help me prolong what I have left.
“I’m sick of being sick and tired of being tired. And I’m reading that cannabis oil could help, but I can’t get it.The medication I’m on now is strong anti-seizure medication. I want to get off that and get my own mind back.”
Kieran has a younger daughter yet in his current state he is unable to be with her unsupervised for the fear of having a seizure. The use of marijuana oil is legal in a limited number of areas throughout different countries.
In the US, 23 out of the country’s 50 states at this point in time allow the practice of medicinal marijuana, with legislation pending in other states.
Kieran states he is appealing to the health minister for assistance to help focus on his situation and he has put together a letter to the department.
