Colorado’s Teen Drug Use Is Down Since Marijuana Was Legalized

Since the state of Colorado legalized recreational marijuana, teen drug use has dropped. Here’s why. In 2012, the residents of Colorado voted in favor of recreational marijuana and by 2014, Colorado’s Amendment 64 was implemented. The state’s residents, aged 21 and older, were granted to access to purchase marijuana without a medical card. In the first year alone, $44 million in tax revenue was generated from sales and a portion the revenue funded social programs. Another positive impact from legalization was that teen drug use dropped.
