1. 2. In Australia, based on parliamentary inquiry into commercial industrial hemp conducted in 2012, three new measures are being introduced to help reduce regulation and licensing for industrial hemp. The 3 measures include: (1) introducing special legislation for the cultivation and supply of industrial hemp for commercial production and other legitimate issues; (2) immediately extending licencing from one year to five years to give farmers more certainty and allow them to get on with the job of growing the crop and; (3) increasing the allowable THC threshold from 0.35 per cent to 1 per cent to bring the state in line with New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT to allow for easier trade of material. 3. In Europe, a debate on the finalized hemp cultivation bill is expected to start in a few days. According to the party who has been lobbying to legalize hemp, along with medicinal cannabis, says that legalizing hemp “will open up new possibilities in both agriculture and industry sectors.” The source stated, “Hemp cultivation should have already been legalised but a bureaucratic mix-up brought the endeavour to a standstill, with the Health ministry permanent secretary claiming that it wasn’t clear whether minister Filippos Patsalis had the legal authority to sign a decree removing hemp from the illegal drugs list.” (Source:2/3/2015 — Cyprus Mail)
4. In Richmond, Virginia, the House of Delegates passed legislation (House Bill 1277) that will allow industrial hemp to be grown in the state. The measure’s sponsor, Delagate Joseph Yost, R-Giles, said the potential economic advantage that industrial hemp would provide for the state “could be an economic boon in terms of the amount of research” that could be done, as the Bill would “direct the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to establish an industrial hemp research program and regulations in the commonwealth.” While the Bill is heading to the House floor, sources say similar legislation in pending in the state Senate. 5. In Oregon, the Department of Agriculture gave the green light to anyone who wants to grow industrial hemp in the State. According to the news source, if everything goes as planned, “Oregonians will be planting the first legal hemp crop in the state since 1957.” The licenses are available online through February 6, 2015 and when granted are valid for 3 years (and cost $1,500). While this is a major step for the state, a permit from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) will need to give its approval to actually import and secure the seeds for this year’s crop since it is still considered a Schedule 1 drug under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. 6. In New York, Dr. David Mitlin (of Clark University) describes hemp-powered batteries as “better than graphene” during a presentation at the Chemical Society meeting. The Hemp Farming Act bill is expected to not only spark growth the Industrial Hemp industry, but is suspected to spark “explosive” growth for the Hemp stocks as well by spotlighting hemp-related companies in the industry. 8. To open the campaign season for the 2016 Nevada GOP presidential caucus, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was in Reno and was asked about his support of growing hemp commercially. 10. “Legislation has been filed for the 2015 legislative session in the Florida House to re-legalize the farming of hemp, and as of today, February 3, 2015 it is in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee of the Florida House. The bill has not yet been picked up by a Florida State Senator. The bill would enable Florida farmers to grow industrial hemp as an agricultural crop. The bill calls for Florida government officials to develop rules “to promote economic development, and job growth through the cultivation, processing, distribution, manufacturing and sale of hemp.” Read full article. ABOUT HEMP, INC.’s DECORTICATION PLANT IN NORTH CAROLINA

To date, Hemp, Inc.’s decortication plant is currently being reconfigured to accommodate the size of the equipment to be rebuilt.
