North Carolina – Home to Hemp, Inc.’s Decortication Facility Inches Closer to the Legalization of CBD/Hemp Oil as House Bill 766 Passes the State Senate

Hemp, Inc. (HEMP) officials excited that North Carolina’s CBD/Hemp Oil bill has passed the Senate with a unanimous vote (47-0), putting the state of North Carolina one step closer to hemp legalization.  On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, the rather “cumbersome” bill was streamlined by the Senate committee stating any “board-certified neurologist could prescribe CBD oils (hemp oils) to any aged patient with intractable epilepsy, and that each patient” would simply go into a database instead of being put on a registry that would have required patients being issued a card, associating them with the registry.  The registry, according to the Senate, would incur an unnecessary cost.

Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (HEMP) commented, “Proposing to legalize the medicinal use of CBD oil (Cannabidiol) is a huge step for North Carolina where we have our decortication plant.  I think they are beginning to relate to Liz Gorman’s story and many other families who have had to uproot and move, just to save their children’s lives.”

According to the North Carolina General Assembly, House Bill 766: Amend CBD Oil Statute summarizes it as, “amend the exemption for the use or possession of hemp extract and authorize certain neurologists to use hemp extract to treat intractable epilepsy without participating in a pilot study.” For the complete Bill analysis, click here.

“Aside from the fact that CBD oil comes from both medical marijuana and the industrial hemp plant, there is nothing about it that gets you ‘stoned’. The CBD oil that is extracted from medical cannabis and the industrial hemp plant is being considered by most as an amazing healing remedy.  Our commercial decortication plant in Spring Hope, North Carolina will be able to process hemp fibre as soon as the State legalizes it,” said Perlowin.

He continued stating, “Hemp, Inc.’s 70,000 square-foot facility on nine acres, that houses the decortication line, has additional available space to build a GMP-compliant, co2 Extraction facility to produce CBDs, should we decide to.  That decision will be made in the future after legalization occurs.  We strongly believe legalization will be sooner than everyone thinks.”  As such, Hemp, Inc. expects its Hemp Decorticator to revolutionize the manufacturing of raw hemp in the U.S.A. and help Americans transition from non-sustainable synthetic solutions to more hemp-based clean, green solutions.

Hemp, Inc.’s decorticator is the only large-scale commercial decorticator in the U.S. According to Perlowin, there are only five decorticators of this magnitude in the world and Hemp, Inc. owns one of them.  The company has even installed video cameras throughout its facility in Spring Hope, North Carolina with videos to document its progress.

Hemp, Inc. executives say the proposed Bill (HB 766) puts Hemp, Inc.’s decortication plant one step closer to being able to operate in full capacity as Hemp, Inc. intended, which is processing industrial hemp.  With the amendments made by the Senate, the bill is now set to return to the state’s House of Representatives for the final vote, which has already passed the bill once. Once approved, the Bill will go to North Carolina’s Governor, Pat McCrory for consideration.  Until then, the plant will start off by processing the 5,000,000 pounds of kenaf on hand and the 150 acres of kenaf, planted this year, to be processed at Hemp, Inc.’s decortication plant.

The age-old medicinal benefits of hemp and cannabinoids (CBDs) have been gaining popularity among more “alternative health consumers” in not only the Carolinas but across the country over recent years… a market in which Hemp, Inc. plans to launch its new CBD product line.

HEMP, INC.’s TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE
Hemp, Inc. (HEMP) seeks to benefit many constituencies from a “Cultural Creative” perspective thereby not exploiting or endangering any group. CEO of Hemp, Inc. (HEMP), Bruce Perlowin, is positioning the company as a leader in the industrial hemp industry, with a social and environmental mission at its core. Thus, the publicly-traded company believes in “upstreaming” of a portion of profit from the marketing of their finished hemp goods back to its originator, in which most cases will one day be the American farmer, cultivating natural, sustainable products as an interwoven piece of nature. By Hemp, Inc. focusing on comprehensive investment results—that is, with respect to performance along the interrelated dimensions of people, planet, and profits—our triple bottom line approach can be an important tool to support sustainability goal.
