If you were to ask anyone twenty to thirty years ago if they thought that marijuana was going to be legalized in Florida, they would have laughed in your face. Well, now you can officially laugh in their faces because now you have the ability to go to a dispensary and buy medical cannabis right over the counter. The first dispensary has opened up in Tallahassee this week. There are seventeen more that are going to open up around Florida including two in the Tampa Bay area. One is going to be used for a medical office park off U.S. 19, just south of Enterprise Blvd. in Clearwater. The other is going to open up on Dale Mabry Highway in Hillsborough County.

But let’s say there was a situation where theoretically you couldn’t drive, or perhaps you did not feel like it. Luckily, if you are an approved patient, you can have the drug delivered straight to your home. The first delivery was made to a patient suffering from seizures in Hudson. Marijuana is supposed to prevent or reduce the amount of seizures. The type of medical marijuana being sold is named Charlotte’s Web, which does not have much THC in it. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Sooner than later, another form of medical cannabis is going sold to people who are suffering from terminal illnesses. That type of marijuana has much more THC, but the amount of people allowed access to medical marijuana at the moment is pretty low.

However, that is probably going to change. Amendment two is going to be voted on again in Florida in November. A recent poll indicates that almost eighty percent of people approve of medical marijuana, which shows that right now, the amendment is likely going to pass. If it does, more people with more conditions will be able to get their hands on medical cannabis.
