When most think of the election trail you might picture a statuesque middle aged man shaking hands, kissing babies, and promising to lower taxes while creating jobs…but marijuana? This is something that really hasn’t entered the picture until recent and Senator Rand Paul is ready to change that. A staunch supporter of the fight to legalize medical marijuana, the Republican senator has put together a plan to corner cannabis supporters by hosting an event or what he’s calling a “private briefing” for campaign donations. Where will this briefing be held? None other than at the Colorado Convention Center during the second annual Cannabis Business Summit and Expo.

Though it’s still unclear if he’s a one many wolf pack or if is other GOP rivals will be within 10 feet of the convention, Sen. Paul is tightening up his bootstraps and going after those looking for a cannabis candidate. Tickets are fetching $2,700 to attend, $5,400 to sponsor, and a whopping $10,400 to have a “host” label stamped on your nametag!

The National Cannabis Industry Association, who will co-host the event, forwarded its members an invitation from Paul’s campaign, “Now, Senator Paul is making history again by hosting a VIP reception and private briefing to talk about his vision for America. He will take your questions and talk about his support of federal medical marijuana, his push to reform banking laws so they do not deny services to legal cannabis businesses, his work on criminal justice reform, and his support of allowing states to determine their own cannabis laws… Never before has a major-party presidential candidate held a reception at a cannabis industry event, and NCIA is proud to host Senator Paul.”
