When it comes to the proper use of marijuana not everyone who partakes in using pot is smoking it but rather digesting it through edibles. Manteca Police have arrested a couple who was presumed to be selling froot loops that were infused with marijuana. This raid influenced law officials on Wednesday to spread the word throughout the community that marijuana infused edibles such as an assortment of candies and baked goods are popping up more frequently in Manteca.
Jason Hensley, the School Resource Officer stated he has seen the same type of edibles in some area schools. Duane Orin Brown, 51 and Tonia Brown, 50 were both arrested at a home at Tappan Place on Alameda Street about four blocks away form the police department. They were both transported to the Manteca jail where they were questioned and charged with growing cannabis, for being part of a felony and for conspiracy before they were set free on their own recognizance. With three days to pack up and move out they had reportedly been evicted from their rental home.
Three semi automatic weapons were discovered as well as finding a bolt action rifle that was found inside their home. Law officials also discovered packaged cannabis laced edibles including the marijuana laced froot loops along with a grow op. The grow operation had top of the line equipment that was cultivating over 100 plants with an estimated value of 1 million dollars over the time span of one year.
Chris Mraz, who is the Street Crimes Unit Sgt. stated the grow was bringing in so much stolen PG&E power through an electrical bypass that made the fusing of electrical lines between the grow house and the next door neighbor. The employees of the utility company used a jack hammer to reach the fused lines under a driveway to restore lost power.
