If you’re looking to smoke some pot and workout at the same time, then you’re in luck; the very first cannabis-friendly gym is going to officially open in California. Power Plant Fitness says that it is going to allow vaping as well as edibles when they first open up, but will eventually build an area dedicated to smoking. The gym says that they are going to advocate marijuana for focus as well as recovery. Members are able to take a “cannabis performance assessment” with help to find the “most optimal ways to consume,” Jim McAlpine, a co-founder, said.
“We are focused on the athletic side, not the cannabis side,” he added. “And helping our members figure out the best way for them to ingest their cannabis.”
Founder of the 420 Games, athletic events to promote the beneficial use of marijuana, McAlpine is trying to implement this at the gym.
“It won’t be a place to get high and just screw around,” McAlpine confirmed
The fitness club looks to promote the same message as the 420 Games, which is to indicate that cannabis smokers are not lethargic sloths and promote marijuana and its benefits. Some athletes see that edibles help give them the physical or mental motivation needed for a long run, or even a dance class.
For some others, the gym will give them a safe place for cannabis smokers who need to relax with a quick smoke break after work. Since legalization is a heavy subject throughout the entire country, many athletes, and people just trying to stay in shape, say that cannabis surely helps their performance. In addition to that, it helps them relax and push themselves past limits during workouts.
“Marijuana relaxes me and allows me to go into a controlled, meditational place. When I get high, I train smarter and focus on form,” McAlpine reported.
