The Alkaline Water Company to be the Exclusive Bottled Water Provider for Wonder Woman Races
The Alkaline Water Company Inc. (NASDAQ and TSXV: WTER)(the “Company”), a leading producer of premium bottled alkaline drinking water sold under the brand name Alkaline88®, today announced that it has formed a new agreement with the Wonder Woman Run Series to provide Alkaline88® water at the finish line of nine of the Wonder Woman 5K races and marathons in 2019, with an option to renew for 2020.
The Company will be the exclusive provider of bottled water at each event. The agreement entails that the Company’s logo will be featured on the Wonder Woman Run website, as well as on local pages for each race and on the bibs of runners entered in these races.
The DC Wonder Woman Run Series is produced by SON Events, together with Wonder Woman Consumer Products on behalf of Warner Bros.’ Consumer Products division and DC Comics. The events are designed to empower women, men and children to harness their inner super hero. The series launched in late 2018 with runs in five California cities. In the aggregate, the events attracted more than 10,000 participants in 2018. In 2019, the DC Wonder Woman Run Series will expand to at least 10 U.S. cities and the sponsors anticipate registering approximately 100,000 participants. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our company to partner with an organization that we applaud. The goal of these races is to produce a nationally recognized series of running events that help people realize their inner ‘super-hero’ qualities. It is also a great marketing opportunity for us,” said Richard A. Wright, President and CEO of The Alkaline Water Company Inc. “We expect that the inclusion of our logo at the Wonder Woman races will promote the brand beyond the local reach of the markets in which the races are run,” concluded Wright.
Catapulted into super hero status with the 2017 film of the same name, which has already generated over $820 million in worldwide box office gross and untold consumer products revenue, Wonder Woman has become a role model to young people around the world. She is one of the most popular characters within the DC Comics universe and one that helps children understand the importance of self-empowerment.
