The Big Apple Will be Opening Its First Marijuana Dispensary

In January of 2016, New York City’s first medicinal marijuana dispensary is going to open in Manhattan by Union Square.

NBC News reports that the dispensary shall be on the 14th street and between Second and Third Avenues. Columbia Care will be running the company; the company is a New York City company that was given one the state’s five medicinal marijuana licenses in July.

Columbia Care CEO Nicholas Vita stated, “We hope to move as closely to a pharmaceutical manufacturing process as we can.”

Because New York’s medicinal marijuana program was passed into law a year ago with very restricting standards, the program has received tons of criticism. The law’s restrictions are upon the oil that may be consumed through the mouth or through a tube, and also fails to cover many other important conditions.
