The group supporting an amendment to legalize medical cannabis led a new huge fundraising month in September, largely thanks to a $293,000 introduction from Orlando attorney John Morgan, it’s chair. Another huge raiser was People United for Medical Marijuana, who generated $22,000 from other donors who donated up to $250 leading to the monthly total to bed approximately $315,000. People United spent over $342,000, though and actually had a loss in cash-on-hand, which is now negative.

Most expenditures focused solely on petitions and gathering efforts. PCI Consultants based in California was the preferred position and raised exactly $261,378 in committee funds for efforts. Petition verification also took a great deal of money because of fees paid to the sundry county supervisor of elections offices summing up to over $7,000. The Florida Department of State reported that the committee has gathered 280,373 signatures by Wednesday morning. The amendment needs 683,149 to get on the ballot, though.
