Oregon State Opens Its Doors To Marijuana Policy Studies

New Marijuana Policy Course at Oregon State University

A change in Oregon State’s curriculum will help students understand and act on public policies related to marijuana. Oregon recently passed a bill legalizing recreational use for marijuana, OSU as a part of there sociology course, offers a class entitled “Marijuana Policy in the 21st Century”. The creator and instructor of the course, Seth Crawford, is already at max capacity for the class with 50 students enrolled for the winter term.

The course will go over the marijuana market, control strategies, and recent case studies of legalization. Students will turn in a collectively authored paper of their recommendations, and present a group presentations that is recorded and open to the public to view. They will give their findings to policymakers, as well as recommendations for those policies for the OLCC and the Oregon Health Authority, says course creator Seth Crawford. Mr. Cawford serves on the states advisory committee on medical marijuana and is an expert on policies & the market structure for marijuana in Oregon.
