CBD or cannabidiol is one of the main components of the cannabis plant. Many scientists have reported that the substance has a massive amount of potential to treat everything from anxiety to sleep disorders and more. With so much news floating around about the world of cannabis, CBD remains one of the major players to watch in the coming year.
For those who don’t know, CBD is extremely beneficial for treating a wide variety of health issues as mentioned before. CBD has been known to be extremely powerful at combating pain management and in some cases can be as useful as high-grade pharmaceutical drugs.
One of the largest benefits to CBD is that laws are quickly changing to begin allowing its use around the nation. This is still happening despite laws regarding cannabis legalization, as CBD can be derived from marijuana’s less illegal cousin, hemp. Medical professionals have begin to recommend the use of CBD to a large amount of patients which has been a big step in the right direction.
Of course, one of the largest things to consider when looking at CBD is the fact that it affects every person differently. Many who use it to manage pain and nausea, have done so with quite solid results, while others claim that the substance had little to no effect on them.
Much of the CBD that we can buy readily outside of a dispensary is currently coming from hemp. While hemp and cannabis are closely related, the latter of the two contains much higher amounts of THC or tetrahydrocannabinol which is the main intoxicant that people get when they feel ‘high’. This is one of the main reasons that CBD has been recommended for use in children and the elderly, or otherwise people who cannot handle or do not wish to get intoxicated from their medicine.
The legal status of CBD is quite complicated as well. For many years, hemp has remained illegal to grow in the U.S., despite our nation being founded upon hemp growers. Currently, much of the hemp that is being grown is being done as industrial hemp, which can be used as a fabric, rope, clothing and more. Industrial hemp currently does not have a large amount of regulation which can be good for those looking to buy CBD, but it also has its downsides. With it being regulated so sparsely, industrial hemp is not tested at the same rate medicinal CBD is.
The safest choice knowing this is simply to always buy organic hemp products. This at least can assure the user that they are getting a product that is safe and tested up to organic standards. Many growers and distributors also sell their product online which can be a great resource for those looking to purchase safe CBD.
Although the world of CBD, especially in a medicinal sense, is still quite in its infancy, CBD looks as though it could become the future of treatment for many of the ailments we face on a day to day basis. The next few years will hopefully help to shift the political standing of the substance in the U.S. and around the world.
