Recently, hunters have been keeping their eyes on marijuana rather than animals; Over-lookers of Oklahoma game stated that they “smoked out three dove poachers in a hunting blind made of marijuana.” Apparently, this seems like one of the most eccentric marijuana busts that they have ever witnessed. Officers of two counties – Garfield and Major – were dispatched just a week ago to a field where there had been complaints of dove poaching. Upon arriving to the field, three men wearing hunter apparel were found in a blade that were made out of marijuana.
Lieutenant Frank Huebert – Game Warden of Major County – said in a report that this was extremely rare, being the first time that he has seen anything of the type.
“I’ve never found it before,” Hubert said. “And around the state no one has ever heard of a marijuana blind before.”
He also reported that after scouring the scene, he questioned who would make a hunting blind made out of marijuana – a very valid question. The three were found hunting doves just two days prior to the dove hunting season which opened Sept. 1.According to Huebert, the three men never saw his team come near.
“There was better stuff right around where they were,” he added. “We came in from behind. They didn’t know we were there until we were right there.”
The men have to come before a judge in court for hunting violations. They may even face more charges after various drugs and needles were found in one of the men’s houses. One of the three allegedly had many warrants and was taken into custody. Bill Hale – who works for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and Conversation – was asked about the case.
“I’ve never seen a case where they start early, have 50 extra dove, bait a field, hunt out of a marijuana blind,” Hale said. “That actually sounds more like something you’d see in a story or a movie than it does real life.”
