North Carolina — Home to Hemp, Inc.’s Decortication Facility Approves the Legalization of CBD/Hemp Oil

North Carolina Governor, Pat McCrory signed House Bill 766 into law Friday, July 17, 2015. Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) officials were excited that CBD/Hemp Oil is now legal in North Carolina, home to its decortication plant (a natural fiber manufacturing and processing facility). According to the General Assembly of North Carolina Session 2015, the new legislation amends “the exemption for use or possession of hemp extract and permitting the use of hemp extract as an alternative treatment for intractable epilepsy without participating in a pilot study and repealing the epilepsy alternative treatment act in 2012.” In other words, neurologists can recommend a hemp oil treatment to patients that suffer from intractable epilepsy without being part of a pilot study.

“We are overwhelmed with joy that North Carolina passed this legislation making CBD/Hemp Oil legal in the state. The industrial hemp plant can help save lives. It’s one of earth’s most precious natural resources that our commercial decortication facility in Spring Hope, North Carolina can process. The CBD oil is derived from the industrial hemp plant,” says Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP).

He continued, “I say it all the time. The industrial hemp and medical marijuana industries are here to stay. Trying to slow that evolutionary progress down is like trying to sweep back an incoming tide with a broom. Take North Carolina for example. Last year, the Governor signed legislation on hemp oil with only limited distribution to parents participating in pilot studies but there weren’t any pilot studies because none of the three university hospitals in the State chose to participate in the pilot program. But there were still so many children with severe forms of epilepsy in need of a treatment that worked without damaging other internal organs. Now amendments to this law have been passed and caregivers can get a neurologist from any State hospital to recommend a CBD/Hemp oil treatment.”

This is quite a victory for Hemp, Inc. and its shareholders because Hemp, Inc. owns 9 acres of land with a 70,000 square-foot facility that can process large, or commercial quantities of hemp fiber. Its decortication facility also has additional space to build a build a GMP-compliant, co2 Extraction facility to produce CBDs. Now that the State has approved the legalization of CBD/hemp oil, Hemp, Inc. can build this space out in order to accommodate the State’s medical needs, should that decision be made.

To date, however, House Bill 766 allows state neurologists to “recommend” CBD/Hemp oil, they cannot prescribe it. It will not be available through pharmacies nor will patients be allowed to make their own. Currently, those wishing to obtain CBD/hemp oil will have to obtain it by ordering it online.

Secretary of Hemp, Inc., Craig Perlowin commented, “Many advocators and supporters feel this is a huge step for any level of medicinal use of the cannabis plant. Change is inevitable, oftentimes slow, but still inevitable.” Hemp, Inc. executives feel confident that more change is just around the corner now. “How long do you think it will take for North Carolina to allow it to be grown in its own backyard? After these amendments, I suspect not long at all.”

Medicinal benefits of hemp and cannabinoids (CBDs) are feverishly sought after among more “alternative health consumers” in not only the Carolinas but across the country. Hemp, Inc.expects its Hemp Decorticator to revolutionize the manufacturing of raw hemp in the U.S.A. and help Americans transition from non-sustainable synthetic solutions to more hemp-based clean, green solutions.

Hemp, Inc.’s decorticator machinery is the only large-scale commercial decorticator in the U.S. According to Perlowin, there are only five decorticators of this magnitude in the world and Hemp, Inc. owns one of them. The company has video cameras installed throughout its facility in Spring Hope, North Carolina with videos to document its progress. “Currently, we have less than 1 megabyte upload, however, we are increasing that in order to successfully be able to stream video,” said David Schmitt, COO of Hemp, Inc.’s Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC. This will be enough to provide streaming video and people will be able to go the www.hempinc.com website and see the final stages of Hemp, Inc.’s decortication facility buildout, first-hand.

There were 150 acres of kenaf planted this year that is set to be processed at Hemp, Inc.’s decortication plant. The company currently has 5,000,000 pounds of kenaf on hand which it will process.

In other development in the emerging industrial hemp industry and movement, United States Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell secured a provision in the Senate Agriculture Appropriations bill on Friday, July 17, 2015 to allow processing of legally-grown industrial hemp. Senator McConnell was quoted saying, “Kentucky’s industrial hemp pilot programs continue to prosper, and I want to make sure our legal hemp producers can safely transport their crops between states, including to states that maintain processing facilities, so they can fully capitalize on the commercial potential for this commodity.”

According to McConnell’s language in the bill, farmers would be able to transport their industrial hemp crops between states to further process it for commercial purposes. “We have the largest decortication plant in the country, so when that bill passes with the McConnell language, farmers will be able to transport their industrial hemp crops to our decortication facility for further processing. What better rightful return, to the American hemp landscape, than to have hemp legally-grown in the U.S.A. and for products made in the U.S.A.?” concluded Perlowin.

HEMP, INC.’s TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE
