Exploring the Internet is a lot more fun than some folks make it as well as entertaining, edgy and more times than not educational. Gratitude to our intellectually superior friends at Google and their top-secret algorithms that continually track and monitor everything we do online, we can now search for what we have all been searching. And it looks like a keen interest in marijuana is leaving a burning trail up and down the information highway like a hot, smoldering spliff. Google Trends tell us that searching the net for marijuana increased nearly 75 percent between 2004 and 2016, according to Business Insider.

Although first started back in 2006, Google Trends, has gotten much more complex and advance over the recent years. Sex, drugs, and rock & roll, for the most part, have been on the top of the search list for a long time (although the former wins by a long shot). Currently, the curiosity of those whose interest is cannabis are now roaming cyberspace, and with good intent.

This should come as no surprise to anyone that after a recent investigative study in the Lancet Psychiatry that confirmed that there is a rise in the use of cannabis and a heavy decline in the perception of risk since back in 2002. Combining that with a Monitoring the Future study showing us that marijuana is up and narcotics are going down, it is no surprise that we are all searching for more info.

Then there is legalization, which has grown by leaps and bounds all across the land. This November, five states could go totally legal and another five are likely to legalize medical marijuana. Conclusion: Curiosity is good—search away. Information is better—spread the word. Legalization is best—get out and vote!
