Within the state of Arizona, efforts are underway to put a measure legalizing recreational cannabis on the ballot for the upcoming 2016 election. Spearheaded by the Marijuana Policy Project, the dedication towards legalization will need activists to obtain signatures, legalization opponents are collecting money and supporters as they get ready for the impending electoral squabble.
Under the given measure, cannabis would be legal for people 21 years and older. Citizens may cultivate up to a dozen plants per person, taxes would be placed at 15% and people could spend as much as $7,500 for a license to sell cannabis without opening a marijuana shop.

According to The Tuscon Weekly, Mike Weisser of Safer Arizona stated that while the bill is still not perfect it brings forth the best opportunity of marijuana legalization for Arizona. ”Not everybody is happy with the language,” said Weisser. “I am not in love with all of the components, but we have the best compromise we are going to get.”
If enough signatures are obtained to achieve being on the ballot, advocates will face mountain to climb when dealing with both the Republican Party and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce
