NTRR: Colorado Weathers Largest Cannabis Recall Yet Due to Pesticide Fears
Two weeks ago, Colorado endured the largest cannabis product recall in the state’s history, highlighting the costly consequences that potentially dangerous pesticides have wrought in the nation’s largest adult-use cannabis industry. Neutra Corp. (NTRR) is working to help end the industry’s pesticides problem once and for all by delivering clean, technological alternatives to growers in the state.
In the last week of December, a prominent cannabis edibles company voluntarily recalled nearly 100,000 packaged products after some tested positive for banned chemical pesticides imidacloprid and myclobutanil. The largest recall of cannabis-infused products in U.S. history, it was also the 15th cannabis recall in Denver in 16 weeks—only the latest spot of trouble in the midst of a recurring issue in the industry.
“The U.S. cannabis industry will continue to face recalls until better alternatives to these harsh chemicals are widely adopted,” said NTRR CEO Chris Brown. “We plan to be a part of the solution.”
NTRR is marketing new, potentially healthier alternatives to harsh chemicals in cannabis cultivation. Alongside joint venture partner Surface to Air Solutions (S2O2), the company offers cannabis growers and other businesses a suite of horticultural products—including a plant stimulant, an air-scrubber and a self-cleaning hard surface treatment—that helps keep plants and surfaces free from mold, powdery mildew, botrytis, and mites. Used together, the suite of products allows healthy plants to thrive without the use of pesticides and fungicides. Some are already in use by growers in the United States and Canada.
With analysts predicting that the U.S. cannabis industry could grow by another six states in 2016, NTRR plans to unveil many new products to capitalize on the historic growth of cannabis throughout North America.
