A newspaper in Denver published a report that has shown various marijuana dispensaries selling marijuana products with unapproved and illicit pesticides. According to the report, health inspectors found “hundreds of lozenges, and an undisclosed amount of raw cannabis,” being sold. The dispensary is called Mountain High Suckers and MMJ America and the pesticide is called spinosad; the chemical has been outlawed in Colorado.

Although the report shows that health inspectors had no choice but to contain hundreds of pot products at these particular dispensaries because of Denver’s new opinion on the chemical, the companies were actually just using old labels that a previous health official had allowed them to. However, because of politics and the what seems like personal vendettas against Colorado’s cannabis trade, the report – a lie that spread like wildfire – was sent in to Denver’s newspaper personally by somebody under the commands of City Attorney Dan Douglas.

“The city attorney has it out for us,” Jake Salazar – owner of MMJ America -said in an interview. “Douglas is one of the medium-level officials that are staunchly opposed to the cannabis industry.”

Salazar continued and said that just last week, a city health official went into his dispensary to test for possible pesticide problems. Immediately, the inspector was informed that the pot dispensary continued to use old packaging on a few of their products, such as those that included spinosad on the label. Rather than squandering tons of expensive packaging, Salazar wondered whether or not it would be okay to cross the chemical off the label and tell customers that the chemical was no longer being used. Supposedly, the official claimed that this was an acceptable method, and promised to return if her boss said otherwise

“So, we had our staff start crossing everything out, and then explaining to people at the counter that spinosad is not one of the chemicals that we use,” Salazar said.
