With the struggle of gaining full legalization for medical marijuana amongst states, its good know that president of the United states is in favor of the medical marijuana movement.

A CNN special “Weed 3” that is geared up to air this Sunday has a segment where CNN’s chief medical correspondent, Sanjay Gupta sits down with the leader of the free world, President Barack Obama and talks about the politics of medical marijuana research.

Obama in the past has stated that he believes more states will adapt to the ways of Colorado and Washington, by legalizing recreational cannabis and has assured that marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, the DOJ will pay a blind eye. Obama is also focusing his efforts for alternative models of drug abuse treatments which do not include going to jail. Obama and Gupta briefly went over the recent bipartisan bill on the Senate floor which is the proposal to reschedule cannabis from a schedule 1 drug to a schedule 2, Obama also mentioned he wanted to work on getting better testing done to determine different medical advantages marijuana provides.
